Hey Bright Side,<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u00a0need to\u00a0vent because this is\u00a0driving me\u00a0insane. My\u00a0backyard backs onto a\u00a0community garden.<\/p>\n

For a\u00a0while, my\u00a0neighbor kept cutting through it\u00a0with her dog, even though\u00a0I straight-up asked her to\u00a0stop. I\u00a0even went as\u00a0far as\u00a0installing a\u00a0locked gate to\u00a0make it\u00a0crystal clear<\/strong>: this is\u00a0private property.<\/p>\n

And yet, I\u00a0caught her literally climbing over my\u00a0fence with her little dog. I\u00a0was shocked.<\/p>\n

Like, really? You prefer to\u00a0climb over something, when you can go\u00a0around my\u00a0house.<\/p>\n

Then, a\u00a0few days later, she came banging on\u00a0my\u00a0door, yelling that, apparently, I\u00a0didn\u2019t have right to\u00a0lock my\u00a0gate! I.\u00a0Lost.<\/p>\n

It.<\/p>\n

She was demanding that I\u00a0\u201cwatch her\u201d whenever she wanted to\u00a0go\u00a0through my\u00a0yard and\u00a0I just keep my\u00a0gate locked, instead of\u00a0helping her. She wouldn\u2019t stop yelling.<\/p>\n

I\u00a0calmly told her, \u201cThat it\u00a0was my\u00a0property.\u00a0I\u2019m not responsible for anything.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

She went pale and stormed off,<\/strong>\u00a0but of\u00a0course, she didn\u2019t stop there. She started going around telling neighbors that\u00a0I was \u201cdangerous\u201d and \u201cunfriendly.\u201d Some of\u00a0them even believed her.<\/p>\n

I\u00a0feel like\u00a0I can\u2019t win.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m following the rules, protecting my\u00a0property, and now I\u2019m the bad guy in\u00a0some twisted version of\u00a0events. So\u00a0Bright Side<\/strong>, am\u00a0I being reasonable for expecting her to\u00a0respect my\u00a0property?<\/p>\n
