Europe-Bound Air Force One Turns B

Air Force One carrying President Donald Trump briefly turned back

after takeoff to Davos “as a precaution” due to a “minor electrical issue,” according to the White House press pool.

Officials stressed the move was routine, and Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt joked that the Qatari jet Trump had once been offered sounded “much better.”

Trump ultimately arrived safely in Davos around 8 a.m. Eastern Time and continued with his planned meetings.

The incident did not overshadow the larger focus of the trip: growing tension between the United States and Europe at the World Economic Forum.

European leaders were uneasy over Trump’s renewed push for a Greenland deal, warning that failure to reach an agreement by February 1 would trigger tariffs.

Under the plan, goods from several European countries would face a “10 percent tariff” by February, rising to “25 percent by June 1.”

European governments rejected the demands, arguing Greenland’s security should be handled through NATO cooperation.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen warned that escalating trade

disputes would weaken allies and benefit adversaries, emphasizing that agreements “should carry lasting meaning.”
