Viewers of Wheel of Fortune found themselves just as confused as the players during the February 25 broadcast when the show began with a perplexing Toss-Up puzzle. Right out of the gate, bewilderment took over, leaving both the audience at home and the in-studio competitors completely puzzled.
The puzzle’s category was “Occupation,” and as the board revealed more letters, the confusion only intensified. That was when Paulomi Dholakia, a player hailing from Orlando, Florida, cautiously chimed in.
“Chief Happiness Officer?” she guessed, her tone clearly indicating her lack of confidence in the response.
Host Ryan Seacrest verified that she was right, though he also appeared slightly dubious.

“That is it. Yeah. Correct,” he confirmed, which elicited chuckles from the players.
“I wasn’t aware that was a thing either, but every company should have one. Don’t you think?” Seacrest commented.
“I agree,” Dholakia answered with an affirmative nod.
The interaction rapidly gained traction online, igniting a flurry of internet responses. Reddit users shared the same bewilderment as the studio audience.

“That read lolol. Paulomi’s read of the first Toss-Up was the right read. Wtf is that?!? Lol,” a commenter posted.
“I guessed the words but then I was like nope, can’t be that… and then it was lol,” shared another viewer.
“If they are going to say something as an occupation, it should have to be a legit occupation. Stupidest puzzle ever,” a disgruntled fan chimed in.
In spite of the weird beginning, Dholakia showcased her skills as a formidable player. She revealed a fascinating detail about herself, noting a special skill she refers to as “taroapy”—a blend of therapy and tarot card reading.

“Can’t wait to spend time with you during the commercial break,” Seacrest joked. Dholakia comforted him by saying her readings only bring tears of joy.
She competed against J. Mark Smith, a self-described “workaholic” hailing from Decaturville, Tennessee, and Celina Alvarado from Gilbert, Arizona, who characterized herself as someone trying many things for the first time in life.
Going into the initial commercial pause, Dholakia was in the lead with $10,200 and kept her momentum, hitting $17,750 by the subsequent break. At that point, Alvarado held $2,000, while Smith was still off the board.
However, the momentum shifted when Alvarado cracked a puzzle in the “Things” category, guessing “Life’s simple pleasures.” Utilizing her Wild Card, she not only grabbed the lead with $18,350 but also secured a fabulous vacation to Costa Rica, bringing her overall earnings to $30,350.
Dholakia battled back during the Triple Toss-Up, earning $4,000 by correctly answering two of the puzzles. Smith finally made his mark, securing $2,000 on the final one.

In spite of a valiant push from all the players, Alvarado’s advantage proved insurmountable. Smith wrapped up in third with $7,100, and Dholakia concluded with a highly respectable $21,750. Nevertheless, it wasn’t enough to overtake Alvarado, who progressed to the Bonus Round with her $30,350 and the Costa Rica getaway secured.
Seacrest comforted Dholakia, assuring her that her performance and earnings were “more than okay.” Ultimately, heading home with a substantial cash payout and a fantastic experience is a pretty great way to wrap up the competition.
